Nina Yashar presents PICKED BY NINA, a special project dedicated to a selection of design objects and works of art, which features numbered pieces realized for Nilufar, now chosen with the precise intention of making collectible design accessible, through the in-depth story of each work, with the opportunity to discover new stories, become passionate and start your own collection.
An important step forward in the digital territory, with the aim of involving even a younger audience of design enthusiasts. A constantly evolving project, which leaves room in the future also for historical pieces or new contemporary productions, with the avant-garde spirit that has always distinguished Nina Yashar and the Nilufar world.
The works are almost exclusively limited editions created for Nilufar, archival and historical projects, chosen to highlight some important collaborations with internationally renowned designers or contemporary artists, presented through a new image and a direct visual identity.
“Each of the pieces I chose tells a specific story, they are part of myself as well as of Nilufar’s story. Produced in a limited series, each work is an important addition to my journey in the world of design. The object becomes a bearer of meaning which translates into an exclusive and collectible value.”
Nina Yashar founded Nilufar Gallery in Milan in 1979. Originally located in via Bigli and specialized in antique carpets, at the end of the Nineties the gallery in via della Spiga ventured into modern and contemporary design, showcasing the work of midcentury masters alongside unusual carpets, cutting-edge furniture and emerging designers’ pieces. Since the 2000s, Nilufar has been the protagonist of experiments and contaminations that strengthen the gallery’s reputation as an international reference point for historical and contemporary design lovers.
In 2015, in a building that once housed a silverware factory, Nina Yashar also opened Nilufar Depot. Located in viale Lancetti (Milan), this wide space of 1,500 square meters, arranged on three levels and inspired by the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, houses part of the vast Nilufar collection, in an atmosphere where contemporary design dialogues harmoniously with iconic pieces of historical design.
